ai-talkie (“we,” “our”) is a voice-first coding assistant for macOS. This policy describes what we collect, why, and how you can control it.

What we collect
- Email address — to authenticate you (via one-time codes) and to communicate about your account or service changes.
- Usage minutes — aggregate count of voice-seconds processed, for quota enforcement and billing. We do not record what was said.
- Session token — an opaque per-device identifier stored locally, used to identify your account on subsequent requests.
- Payment metadata — for Pay-as-you-go top-ups, Stripe processes the charge and returns the outcome (success, amount, tier). We never see or store your card number.
What we don’t collect
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising. Ever.
- We do not persistently store voice audio. Streaming clips are processed in memory and discarded — no archival copy on our servers or sub-processors.
- We do not use analytics cookies or tracking pixels during V0.3.
- We do not access your screen, files, or other apps beyond the explicit permissions you grant macOS (microphone, accessibility, automation).
How we use your data
Email and session token are used solely to authenticate and operate the service. Usage minutes are used to enforce quotas and bill Pay-as-you-go top-ups. Payment metadata is used to record transaction history for your account.
Sub-processors
We rely on the following services to deliver the product. Each is bound by their own privacy policy.
- Groq — speech-to-text inference (transient, no persistence).
- Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Qwen) — speech-to-text and post-processing (transient, no persistence).
- Stripe — payment processing for Pay-as-you-go top-ups.
- Cloudflare — hosting (Workers, D1 database, Pages).
Cookies & local storage
The website stores your session token in browser localStorage after sign-in. This is a strictly necessary first-party item that keeps you signed in across visits — it is not used for tracking and is never sent to third parties. The Mac app stores its session token in the macOS Keychain.
Data retention
Account records (email, usage history) are retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase identifiable records within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records associated with completed payments).
Your rights
You can request any of the following by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within seven business days.
- Access — a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — updates to inaccurate data.
- Deletion — erasure of your account and associated records.
- Export — your usage history in a machine-readable format.
Children
ai-talkie is a developer tool not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced via email to active users at least 14 days before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
